Nothing but big things are happening at The Idaho Club, the newly revitalized development just 10 miles east of Sandpoint.

It’s home to a Jack Nicklaus Signature designed golf course, the only one of its kind in the state of Idaho. Now there are new opportunities for ownership, including lots with panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and Lake Pend Oreille.

The property had its share of troubles after the economic downturn in 2008, but new ownership is bringing the development back in spectacular fashion. The Idaho Club owners, Valiant Idaho LLC, has announced new lot and property sales, as well as plans to build a new clubhouse in 2018. The previous clubhouse was destroyed by fire in 2008. A lake club on Lake Pend Oreille is planned, along with waterfront properties available at nearby Trestle Creek.

Valiant’s managing member, Bill Haberman, said the original architects of The Idaho Club had a great concept in mind — the place just needed a new push after the financial crisis.

“The previous developer did a fantastic job, like the Jack Nicklaus Signature golf course re-design — they did so many things right and were really victims of bad timing,” Haberman said. “The property has tremendous potential. The great golf, great lake and great skiing… really makes it unique in the Pacific Northwest.”

Valiant has partnered with Idaho Pinnacle Properties and Tomlinson Sotheby’s International Realty to market properties for sale at The Idaho Club, with real estate agents Alex Murray of Idaho Pinnacle and Rich Curtis of Sotheby’s handling the duties.

Home sites include estate-size lots on Moose Mountain to lodge-style lots along the golf course and or near the Pack River. A handful of spec homes are also being built on the property.

The new estate-size lots on Moose Mountain range from .75 to 2.5 acres, and feature gorgeous forest views, with lake views near the top and panoramic views at the peak.

Murray set a range of $95,000 up to $695,000 for lots on Moose Mountain, depending on size and location.

“In my humble estimation, it’s some of the most incredible views in all of Bonner County,” Murray said.

A strong set of CC&Rs maintain quality and visual panache in the community, with a mountain-modern style featuring darker sidings and roof lines in the designs. Buyers are free to bring on any builder and architect as long as they follow guidelines.

Those wanting to take a crack at the golf course or to visit the area can rent lodge homes in the area through Sandpoint Property Management, Murray said.

Haberman said The Idaho Club appeals to a wide market of buyers. That includes enticing vacation and retirement home options for people not just in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area, but also Western Washington and Oregon, Canada, and “climate refugees” from mega-hot places like Arizona and Nevada.

Haberman said reception to the new ownership has been encouraging, especially at a recent grand re-opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony by the Greater Sandpoint Chamber of Commerce.

“Nearly everybody at The Idaho Club and in Sandpoint have embraced us and been supportive of what we’re doing,” Haberman said. “It’s been a great experience and we think we’ve got a real diamond.”

Murray and Curtis operate from a temporary clubhouse and are available for tours of available lots throughout the community.
