Flood assistance applicant briefing scheduled June 6

| May 27, 2017 1:00 AM

POST FALLS — Emergency agencies plan to expedite public assistance grants to eligible entities and nonprofits affected by the flooding, landslides and mudslides March 6-28.

The Federal Emergency Management Agency reimburses applicants for up to 75 percent of eligible expenses. The remaining 25 percent is the nonfederal share.

The federal portion is paid directly to the state, which then makes disbursements to the public entities that incurred costs.

The program is only for eligible public entities and nonprofits that were impacted by the weather conditions in March. Residents did not sustain the damages required to meet the qualifying threshold for any individual assistance program grants.

An applicant briefing will be on June 6 at 9 a.m. as a first step in getting assistance to eligible applicants in Kootenai and Shoshone counties. The meeting is at the Idaho Department of Labor, 600 N. Thornton St., Post Falls.

If you are a public entity or eligible nonprofit that incurred damages in March and have not reported your damages, call 446-1775 immediately for an application and more information.
