Bekah Kastning

Hillsdale softball

Kastning, a senior center fielder from Lakeland High in Rathdrum, was one of 12 players from the Midwest Region to be named to the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Capital One Academic All-District team, making her eligible for academic All-American honors. A four-year starter, Kastning was second in the conference in hitting with a .467 average and a school record 79 hits. She led the conference with five triples, was second with 109 total bases and struck out once in Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference play. For her career, Kastning had 233 total hits, second most in school history, and her 13 triples are tied for the most in school history. She had 45 stolen bases, 117 runs scored, 105 runs batted in and a career batting average of .414. An exercise science major, Kastning carries a 3.5 GPA. She was also named First-Team All-Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association and the Division 2 Conference Commissioners Association. Hillsdale finished 25-23 after losing in the first round of the conference tournament.

Casey Stangel

Washington softball

Stangel, a senior outfielder from Lake City High, is batting .344 (55 for 157) with 36 runs scored. She also has 11 home runs and 49 runs batted in for the Huskies (46-11), who will host Utah in the NCAA Super Regionals starting on Friday in Seattle.

Vanessa Shippy

Oklahoma State softball

Shippy, a junior infielder from Lake City High, had the lone RBI in the Cowgirls’ 1-0 win over No. 1 Florida in the NCAA Tournament in Gainesville, Fla. on Sunday, forcing a deciding game in which Florida beat Oklahoma State 5-0 to end the Cowgirls season at 38-26. Shippy led the team in hitting with a .398 batting average (72 for 181) with 48 runs scored, five home runs and 46 runs batted in. Shippy also stole 11 bases during the season.
