More than just noodles at Umami Ramen

| May 14, 2017 1:00 AM

Ramen with house-made noodles, sandwiches with house-made buns, beer, wine, sake and Japanese soft drinks are featured at Umami Ramen. This new restaurant had its soft opening last week in the building of the former Ugly Fish Asian Bistro restaurant at 1927 W. Riverstone Drive.

Seating is for 75 at tables and two bar counters with outside deck tables. The versatile menu includes 14 main dishes, 14 sides and 19 toppings. Owner and chef Bin Sun studied at a Japanese ramen school and was owner and chef of the Ding How restaurant in Liberty Lake.

Hours are 11:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. The restaurant does not take reservations or to-go orders as ramen is temperature and time sensitive.

“You have to eat right away. Otherwise the flavors and textures will change,” the spokesperson said. “You are supposed to slurp and eat quickly.”
