Night of the Rising Stars is Saturday

COEUR d’ALENE — The public is invited to enjoy an evening of performing art while supporting local theater during the Night of the Rising Stars.

The event will begin at 7 p.m. Saturday in Bay 4 of The Coeur d'Alene Resort with performances by local youths starting at 7:30 p.m.

The evening will include dessert, a no-host bar and a raffle with proceeds benefiting Lake City Playhouse and Out of the Shadows Theater. LCP is a nonprofit community theater and Out of the Shadows is also a nonprofit that gives special needs actors an opportunity to take the stage.

Kootenai Technical Education Campus senior Sadie Russell, 17, organized the event as part of her resort academy program. It marks the beginning of her work in event planning. She plans to attend the University of Idaho when she graduates from KTEC.

She is hoping to raise $1,000 for the theaters.

"I chose the theaters because I've grown up in theater, so I have a lot of connections there," said Sadie, of Rathdrum.

Admission to Night of the Rising Stars is $25 per person at the door.
