Pat Boe, 94

Dec. 3, 1922 – May 6, 2017

The phrase “when the going gets tough, the tough get going” may have been invented for Pat! The youngest of three children, she grew up in Minnesota, became a proud Oregonian for 64 years and moved to Coeur d’Alene in 2007 to be near family. She was a strong, lively spirited, loving and much loved woman, who parented her two daughters, JeriLynn and Tome, better than she was parented.

When she took the wedding vow of “through sickness and in health,” she meant it and cared for her husband, Bud, for 20 years until his death.

Having three holes in one, she loved golf and the community of friends it brought her.

She became a model for aging gracefully. At 90, buying an iPad she stated “if you don’t keep up, you get left behind” and used it daily for emails and financial matters. As her physical abilities declined she (usually graciously!) made the transition to a walker and then her red scooter; “My needs are pretty simple now; I just want to be able to have meals with my friends, play Bingo and a 4:00 cocktail…that’s what makes me happy.” She trusted her Christian faith and those who cared for her.

Celebrations of her life will be in Portland and then Coeur d’Alene at 3 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2017, at North Star Retirement Community.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to North Star Retirement Christmas Fund and mailed to Tome Boe, P.O. Box 3022, Coeur d’Alene, ID 83816-3022.
