NOTICE for PUBLIC COMMENT HALFWAY MALIN ENVIRONMENTAL ASSESSMENT USDA Forest Service Idaho Panhandle National Forests, St. Joe Ranger District Shoshone County, Idaho The Idaho Panhandle National Forests, St. Joe Ranger District, has prepared an environmental assessment (EA) for the Halfway Malin Project. The Halfway Malin EA is now available for public review and comment. The project is located within National Forest System lands in T45N, R7E, BM, north of Forest Highway 50 and the St. Joe River, about 10 miles east of Avery, Idaho, and also includes part of the road system in the Entente Creek Drainage. Proposed activities include timber harvest that would create openings greater than 40 acres, slash treatments, tree planting, gopher baiting, white pine pruning, non-commercial thinning, prescribed burning to improve wildlife browse, culvert removal, road storage and decommissioning, and changes in public motorized access to address elk security issues.
