Willard Paul Stetzelberger, 92

Willard Paul Stetzelberger died April 19, 2017, in Hayden, Idaho, at age 92. Bill was born in Cleveland, Ohio, on June 4, 1924. He lived with his wife, Ellen Jones Stetzel-berger, in Hayden Lake, Idaho, since 1995. They enjoyed a marriage of 71 years.

Bill served in the Army Air Corps from Aug. 4, 1944, to Jan. 14, 1946. He was a First Lieutenant and piloted a B-25 in the South Pacific Arena and received multiple Air Medals for his service.

He was a lawyer by education and a corporate executive in manufacturing by profession. Bill was highly respected for his skills and abilities in managing corporate turnarounds. His career took him from Cleveland to San Francisco Bay Area followed by Milwaukee, Wis., Chagrin Falls, Ohio, and Evansville, Ind., where he retired at age 61.

Bill enjoyed decades of golf and traveling around the world with his wife, Ellen, and numerous friends.

Bill was an avid skier and shared the slopes with the famous French skier Jacque Zemier. Bill was a talented handyman and carpenter. He was a member of the Soaring Society of Indiana and Washington. He built his own glider plane and lived to tell about it!

Family members that will carry on Bill’s memory are his wife, Ellen; son Dave and wife Cheryl; daughter Barbara and husband Matt; and daughter Nancy and husband Anthony. He will be remembered by his grandchildren Paul, Karen and Tim; and great-grandchildren Alexis, Braedon and Austin.

A private family memorial was held in Bill’s honor.
