Fuelwood permits available on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests

| March 30, 2017 1:00 AM

COEUR d’ALENE — Fuelwood permits for the 2017-2018 season will be available beginning April 1 on the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. A Personal Use Firewood Permit is required if you wish to take firewood home, however campers can gather wood for a campfire without a permit. Fuelwood permits are $20 for a minimum of four cords.

Permits are available at any of the Idaho Panhandle National Forests’ district offices and the Supervisor’s Office.

Visitors traveling on forest roads are encouraged to be mindful of changing conditions. With a long winter and a very wet spring, roadbeds at the lower elevations are soft and prone to washouts, while snow may still cover roads at higher elevations.

For more information on fuelwood permits, please contact your local Forest Service office or visit our webpage at https://www.fs.usda.gov/main/ipnf/home.
