Goodwill's new Post Falls location opens Friday

| March 26, 2017 1:00 AM

Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest will open the doors Friday to its new 24,000-square-foot facility at 4040 E. 16th St. (east of Highway 41) in Post Falls. It replaces the six-year-old facility at 317 Seltice Way.

The facility includes a Goodwill store, a drive-through donation center, a Workforce and Family Services Program office and a regional transportation warehouse hub.

About 4,000 square feet larger than the old facility, the new store provides a larger selection of merchandise for the area’s growing population. Residents of the Post Falls-Rathdrum area will use this location for mission service programs Tuesdays and Thursdays with the Workforce and Family Services offices opening the first week of April.

Wolfe Architectural Group designed the facility with features to increase energy efficiency. With skylights, sensors adjust lighting as needed. Landscaping with regional plants decreases water consumption.

Goodwill Industries of the Inland Northwest began in 1939 to help people overcome barriers to independence. The 20 local Goodwill programs serve more than 6,000 people a year and employ more than 500 people. Check www.discovergoodwill.org.

The Post Falls facility is open 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday and until 7 p.m. Sundays. Phone 773-6181. The CdA store is at 1212 N. Fourth St.

Clarity Center

adds crystals

The Clarity Center in Suite 116 at 6848 Government Way is in its new larger location with the major addition of crystals.

Jennifer Von Behren for three years has offered alternative counseling, life coaching and healing. And working into that inventory she has added “healing”

crystals, stones, gems, jewelry, gifts and “singing” bowls. She also invented a body mat comprised of stones that reduce pain and stress when customers recline on them.

Hours are 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday. Her grand opening is Friday with John Dowler, her co-owner and father. Phone 719-0294. Check www.facebook.com/clarity center.

Hawaiian Sun

Fitness opens

Drop-in classes with the feature one of Surf Set are offered at Hawaiian Sun Fitness celebrating its grand opening in Schreiber Square at 6848 N. Government Way.

Surf Set is done on suspended surfboards to give a workout similar to actual surfing. Other options include zumba, lunch crunch, island booty boot camp, group fit, TAG, group strength, HIGH and nutritional planning. Owners are Danielle Aeschlimann, Heather Pitcher and Randie Washburn.

Hours are 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday with varying class times and personal training sessions. Phone 762-8267. Check www.hawaiiansunrb.com.

Now for the Tidbits

- Many of these Tidbits are repeated week to week until the new places open. If any have opened, I need someone to let me know. Thanks.

- Living Stone has opened at 247 W. Sunset, and Aspen Dental will be where Pain MD was west of Shopko. Watch for some changes in The Resort Plaza Shops. And Sotheby’s Realty will move into the neighboring former art gallery downtown.

- The Emerald Cleaners building at Fourth and Montana Avenue will be a new midtown pub. And a real estate business will be in the southern portion near the Bluebird restaurant.

- The Ugly Fish restaurant in Riverstone will be replaced with another Asian eatery called Umami Ramen. Watch for Kitchen CDA in the Silver Lake Mall food court. Spies say other stores are coming into the mall also. Taco Loco will be where Valentino’s Pizza was off Canfield Avenue. A Cash & Carry store will be behind Wendy’s off Appleway.

- In Hayden, an Asian eatery will be where Kynrede Cafe was on Government Way.

- A major development called The Crossroads is proposed for Athol. Watch for details. We anticipate a Super 1, a bank, coffee shop, a motel, a gas station-convenience store, a restaurant and others.

- Downtown — Watch for Rustic Restaurant at 309 Sherman (next to Clark’s Jewelry).

- Potlatch 1 Federal Credit Union is expanding in Post Falls. NextHome Living the Northwest real estate is coming there, and Domino’s Pizza is moving to a new place. New places coming to Tedder Business Center (formerly the Post Falls Outlet Mall) north building will include Black-Ops Self Defense, Knowhere Comics, Coffee & Games, SNR Costume Rental, The Coffee House and My Big Fat Greek Deli.

- Closing businesses this month are Johannes Jewelry and the Sports Cellar downtown, Little Mo’s Optical at 1720 Lincoln Way, Radio Shack at 101 Appleway and Vanity in Silver Lake Mall.

- Avoid starting a sentence with “There.” It forces you into the boring to-be verb of “are” or “is.” “There are five reporters writing here” should be “Five reporters write here.” Hmmm. Still boring.

- We can repair anything. Knock hard. The bell doesn’t work.

- Relief: What trees do in the spring.

- My mom, Gladys Rosdahl, would have been 100 today.
