POLITICIANS: Perpetuate problems

| March 24, 2017 1:00 AM

Our politicians excuse themselves from failing to accomplish much by playing their blame games and denigrating all opposition. They have created hopeless divisions amongst themselves which have evidently spread to us. We have bought into their mean-spirited oversimplifications and impulsively taken sides. Now we accuse and denigrate each other.

Our unconditional adherence to our chosen side gives the politicians the job security, power and perks they crave. As long as we remain busy thoughtlessly deriding one another, we won’t bother them with our demands for constructive projects and legislation that benefit all of us.

Let’s stop acting like our politicians. We are neighbors here. We need to quit the mean rants to the “Press” calling our neighbors “libertards,” “intolerant bigots” and all the other offensive epithets we have been hatefully employing against one another. It serves only to engender more hate and accomplishes nothing.

Some have even quoted Scripture to justify their partisan causes. So I’ll try. “Do not judge and you will not be judged. Do not condemn and you will not be condemned. Forgive and you will be forgiven.” (Luke 6 :37) So let’s quash the judgmental condemning and return to being neighbors with open minds and hearts. “Love your neighbor as yourself.” (Mark 12 :31)

If you have constructive political ideas, do send them to the press. Our nation definitely needs them. Let’s just leave the partisan malice to the politicians.
