KUDOS: Great job, voters

| March 22, 2017 1:00 AM

I want to thank all of the citizens who took the time and trouble to go to the polls to vote for all of our school districts’ operational levies and capital bonds.

Thank you in particular to the citizens of District 271 for approving the bond to build a new elementary school and to pay for other badly needed projects to deal with overcrowding. The margin of almost 80 percent for was heartwarming since so many older residents don’t have any kids in our schools. I think it showed that our people are intelligent because they understand that better schools improve life for all of us in our society.

Finally, I want to thank the trustees of 271 for doing their due diligence to put together a great package of needed projects that improve not only our ability to execute teaching and learning, but also projects that improve safety and security for our students, teachers and administrators.
