Courtesy photo The Coeur d'Alene Elks Lodge was represented by Deacon Kiesbuy and Kamryn Pickford at Saturday's Northwest Regional Hoop Shoot Championships in Portland, Ore. Kiesbuy, left, won the boys' 10-11 age group, making 23 of 25 shots. Pickford won the girls' 10-11 age group with 21 points. Pickford tied for the top girl shooter in the competition but lost the top prize in a two-round tiebreaker. Both Kiesbuy and Pickford will advance to the national championships in Chicago on April 22. The pair from Coeur d'Alene join three other competitors from Idaho to represent Region 8 at nationals. This is the first time Coeur d'Alene has sent two individuals to the national championships, and Pickford is the first girl to represent Coeur d'Alene at nationals. To earn their trip to Chicago, Kiesbuy and Pickford beat the state champions from Washington, Oregon and Alaska.

Sting Timbers FC 00 girls: The Sting Timbers went 1-2 in this past weekend’s games in the Washington State Premier League.

During this weekend, Sting played 3 games in 40 hours in the top division of 3 levels in the Washington Cup while 4 players short and 2 additional players sick or injured.

In their first game, the Sting beat LWPC White Piranhas 2-1. Annica Wilson scored on an assist by Taylor Pickford to tie it up 1-1. Then Chloe Teets, assisted by Lexi Medina, secured the win with a late goal. In the second game, the Sting lost to ISC Gunners G00 A 3-1. The Sting tied up at the half 1-1 on a corner kick goal by Bridget Rieken (assisted by Lexi Medina). ISC scored 2 in the second half. In a rematch with LWPC White Piranhas, the Sting lost 2-0 in their third game.
