LAKELAND: Teachers who care

| March 11, 2017 12:00 AM

I am writing this to give my personal experience of Lakeland that I value very much. The teachers here do not care about their wages or their evaluations, but more of how their students are doing on an educational level and a personal level. They care about how a student’s home environment is and how they are doing in other classes, etc.

I can go to any of my teachers and ask for help about anything and they are always on it and finding a solution for me. I am also an athlete; I have participated in soccer, basketball, and track and field. Most of our coaches here at Lakeland are also our staff members, so it is awesome to have that relationship that you already have in school to carry on to sports.

Our sports here are outstanding, we may not be state champions or the most talented, but in a sense, we are the most talented and we are the state champions. We like to watch our classmates succeed in something that they value very much. Without the help of our staff and coaches we are not just athletes or just smart students, we are student athletes. You cannot have one or the other, you have to have both. This is what I value about Lakeland, not the fancy lockers or the off-campus lunches, but the opportunities and effort that each and every one of our staff in the 272 School District has for us.
