LETTER: Fodder for fury

| March 10, 2017 12:00 AM

In Sunday’s letters, Mr. Charlie Branch referred to the military academy nominees as “cannon fodder.” My son-in-law graduated from the Naval Academy at Annapolis in 1987, our granddaughter graduated in 2016 and we have a grandson who wants to attend the Naval Academy, and you have the gall to call them cannon fodder! Those who are chosen to attend the military academies, be it Navy, Army, Air Force or Coast Guard, are the best of the best and they are the ones who protect you and have guaranteed you the freedom of speech that you so carelessly exercised in your letter.

I served in the U.S. Navy from 1955-59 in Navy aviation and I guess you consider me and all other veterans cannon fodder.

Shame on you!
