STUDENT: Why levy matters

| March 9, 2017 12:00 AM

As an eighth-grade student at Timberlake Junior High School, I’m always excited to learn about what’s happening in my school, and I’ve been reading about the upcoming Lakeland School District levy and how it benefits our school.

So far, I’ve found that the money would go toward technology and learning programs that would help us learn, and be successful overall. Eventually, the district wants to have enough computers for students to have their own computer to use for a year which would helps us with studying and research. This would really benefit students without technology at home too.

It would also help with athletic expenses along with many other activities such as drama, band, speech, etc. With more money going toward our extracurricular activities, our ways for expressing ourselves are broadened.

Not only will this levy help improve our learning, but it will also improve our work environment by paying for maintenance to the school buildings and buses. We constantly have roof leaks, so having those fixed will be nice. Also, It would be nice to have the heating fixed in all schools and maintenance to playgrounds too. In the end, this levy will do so much for our district, so make sure to vote YES for The Lakeland School District levy.
