SCHOOLS: Meet the needs

| March 8, 2017 12:00 AM

Coeur d’Alene is the most amazing place to raise a family. It is why my wife and I chose to move and raise our family here. Our daughter is now in middle school. She was in the first fifth-grade class of the new Winton school building. We voted on the levy that helped build that new school and feel that passing the bond and levy on March 14 will benefit Lakes Magnet Middle School in so many ways.

The levy would enable the completion of the remodel for Lakes Magnet Middle School. It would be larger to accommodate the expanding number of students that attend Lakes. The students who attend Lakes should have the same learning opportunities, space and security as the children at the other middle schools in the area like Woodland and Canfield middle schools.

The levy would allow for new curriculum, materials and textbooks for students. The levy would assist in purchasing buses with 3-point harness safety belts and technology devices and tools to better student learning.

The bond will provide needed facility improvements such as additions to the gym, cafeteria, band/music rooms, parking lot and play field updates and renovation of main/security office.

We have operating expenses for our schools every year. Our kids are our future and improving their education is of utmost importance. Please vote YES on the upcoming bond and levy.
