BOISE — The Association of Idaho Cities recognized the city of Coeur d’Alene with two City Achievement Awards on June 22 during the 70th AIC Annual Conference in Boise.

The City Achievement Awards recognize the work of cities around Idaho that have implemented pioneering approaches to improve quality of life, address community challenges, and enhance service delivery in cost-effective ways, said a news release.

This year, awards were given in six categories: Community Engagement, Economic & Community Development, Parks & Recreation, Public Safety, Public Works & Transportation, and Youth Council.

The city of Coeur d’Alene was recognized with a City Achievement Award in the Community Engagement Category for the Lake City Public Library, which through a partnership between the city and school district, is a public library branch at Lake City High School.

The city of Coeur d’Alene also received a City Achievement Award in the Public Safety Category for its Community Action Team, which is partially funded through a federal COPS grant and proactively works with the community on crime prevention, relationship building and problem solving.

The Association of Idaho Cities was formed in 1947 and is a nonpartisan, nonprofit corporation organized to serve Idaho’s 200 incorporated cities. AIC influences policies and provides education, training and technical assistance to strengthen the ability of city elected officials and staff to serve their communities.
