PRESS: Thoughts on delivery

| June 9, 2017 1:00 AM

In response to the cordial letter inserted in my Press: I cherish my Coeur d’Alene Press daily! Sad to hear of the trouble finding help. Too hard to get in and out of the car, etc.

I can understand the safety part of dark early mornings. It has become a different town in our 80+ years. It’s hard to understand what’s going on — drugs, stealing, inexcusable driving.

We ask for porch service, for the love of my life had a stroke and heart and head trauma. In 2015 I had a head trauma situation I deal with everyday.

We didn’t ask for this service because it was inconvenient or lazy. For years we’ve wondered where our paper will be this morning. October through February it can be wet or under snow.

Years ago I had a 1,200-paper route. We took the trunk lid off an old car, one drove, one folded and tossed from midnight to 5 a.m. No snow, so that was a blessing.

Some jobs require a little ambition. How much you want a job and do it well. It’s called getting off your duff in some cases, much younger than us seniors.

Yes, we’ll deal with whatever is decided. Go from there? So for our seniors and situations, hope for the best.
