Emerge Show to pop up downtown June 9

| June 2, 2017 1:00 AM

Local community arts organization Emerge is gearing up for its fourth annual Pop-Up Show, happening from 5 p.m. to midnight Friday, June 9.

Popups are restaurants, galleries, shops or parties held in unexpected places for a short amount of time. The event form has gained increasing popularity nationwide, especially cities.

The Emerge Pop-Up Show is a one-night-only art party featuring 75 local artists and 25 live performances. This year’s show is popping up at 402 Sherman Ave., the downtown location that for many years housed the Sports Cellar.

The Pop-Up Show showcases a huge number of up-and-coming artists, but also includes interactive art, film, and onsite screen printing so revelers can take home a wearable souvenir from the evening.

“The Pop-Up Show is truly one of the highlights of our year,” said Emerge founder Jeni Hegsted. “Every year is bigger and more energetic than the year before, and this year’s show is going to be incredible. We received over 400 submissions from local artists. The art that was selected and the lineup of performers are by far the best we’ve seen.”

The Pop-Up Show is a free event open to all ages, sponsored by Pita Pit and H2A Architects. Other contributors include Traveling T, Mountain Madness Soap Co., Moon Time and the Art Spirit Gallery. A no-host bar was donated by local businesses and wineries. All event proceeds benefit the Emerge community arts program.

Emerge is a community arts organization for anyone seeking to learn art skills and for artists seeking to create and show their work. They serve as a platform for emerging artists to cultivate their careers as professionals, as well as offering a variety of fine art classes that are open to the public and monthly fine art and performing art shows that feature emerging artists.
