National Night Out Tuesday in Hayden

National Night Out takes place Tuesday, Aug. 1, from 4 to 8 p.m. today at Hayden City Park, 8930 N. Government Way.

Kootenai County joins thousands of cities, towns and counties throughout the U.S. to participate in the community-building campaign that takes place each year on the first Tuesday of August.

The event is designed to promote police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to help make neighborhoods safe, more caring places to live.

“This event is intended to benefit the community by showing the public what is available to them through local services, businesses and people,” said the Kootenai County Sheriff’s Office on Facebook.

At this year’s event, according the sheriff’s office’s social media post, there will be 100 participating vendors with displays, demonstrations and more, including: ID-A-Kid, K9 demonstration, Northern Lake Fire truck, adult DUI tricycle course with glasses, Life Flight helicopter, Avista electrical/ transformer display, Avant Coeur Gymnastic demonstration and participation, kid’s dirt bike simulator, bouncy castle, Bookmobile, hand-to-hand combat demonstration, Kootenai Electric bucket truck, free food and drinks.
