Families hold memorial for boaters killed one year ago

| July 28, 2017 1:00 AM

Saturday marks the one-year anniversary of a boat crash on Lake Coeur d’Alene that claimed the lives of three people. Caitlin Breeze, 21, of Spokane; Justin Luhr, 34, of Medical Lake; and Justin Honen, 21, of Post Falls were on a boat between Stevens Point and Swede Bay when they were struck by another boat. Their bodies were recovered from the lake four days later after extensive searching.

Friends and family of Breeze, Luhr, and Honen are inviting the community to join them as they pay their respects and thank the community for their kindness and support over this difficult past year.

The gathering will be at 8:30 p.m. Sunday at Independence Point.

They ask that those attending bring candles and flowers for a sunset vigil, and as a matter of respect, do not bring alcohol to the commemoration.
