Idaho residents who want to trap wolves must complete a wolf trapping course offered by the Idaho Department of Fish and Game.

Four courses are set this fall for Central and North Idaho. A Sept. 8 and a Sept. 9 course is scheduled at the IDFG Office, 3316 16th St. in Lewiston and two courses in Coeur d’Alene are set Sept. 22 and 23 at the IDFG Office, 2885 W. Kathleen Ave.

The trapper-led courses costs $8 per student, and advanced registration is required. Individuals over 9 years old can register online. The courses cover topics including wolf biology, wolf behavior and management. Specific wolf-trapping rules are also covered in the class.

Anyone with questions about the Wolf Trapper Certification course is encouraged to contact the IDFG Panhandle office at (208) 769-1414; or, consult the Fish and Game webpage, idfg.idaho.gov, and go to Education/Hunter Education and view the trapper education question and answer section.
