Jayne Sue (Meyer) Ulrich, 60

June 26, 1957 – July 6, 2017

Mother, wife, sister and aunt, Jayne Sue (Meyer) Ulrich, 60, was abruptly and unexpectedly taken from our world on July 6, 2017. She passed away in her sleep at her brother and sister-in-law’s house in Kirkland, Wash.

Jayne was born at Swedish Hospital in Seattle, Wash., on June 26, 1957, to her parents, Anna Marie (Gros) Meyer and Vernon Daniel Meyer. She was raised in Federal Way, and attended Thomas Jefferson High School in Auburn, Wash. Jayne graduated at age 17 in 1975. She then went on to study fashion merchandising and accounting at Highline Community College.

In March 1980, Jayne met her husband, Wayne Ulrich, at the Shire Tavern in West Seattle. She loved to speak of how, when they first met, he pursued her relentlessly, bombarding her with flowers, driving her around in his Porsche, and taking her out on extravagant dates until “she couldn’t say no.” Jayne and Wayne married on Aug. 6, 1983, in Parsons Gardens in Queen Anne. They lived on 42nd Street SW in West Seattle until 1988, spent one year in Issaquah, and finally settled in North Bend, Wash., on a beautiful 26-acre property with their dogs from 1990 to 1998. Jayne worked at several different companies over the years, including the Tice Institute in Seattle and as an Executive Assistant at Ace Novelty from 1990 to 1998 in Bellevue.

Jayne surprisingly became pregnant in February 1998 at age 40. At this time, Jayne left the active work force and demanded a real house, so she and Wayne relocated to Rathdrum, Idaho, in August. She gave birth to her miracle daughter, Tyler Ulrich, on Oct. 6, 1998, at Kootenai Medical Center in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. Tyler was the light of Jayne’s life.

Jayne is survived by her husband, Wayne; daughter Tyler; dog Bytor; sister Judie (Dennis); many nieces and nephews; and Wayne’s family. She now rejoins her miscarried twins; parents Anna and Vernon; sister Joyce; brothers Gene and Greg; and nephew Cory to watch over the rest of us.

A purple celebration of Jayne’s life will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, July 29, 2017, at the Ulrich household in Rathdrum, and also at 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, 2017, at the Eastside Masonic Center in Redmond, Wash. Jayne was beautiful, genuine and opinionated throughout her life. She was a devoted wife to her husband and — not only a loving mother — but a best friend to her daughter. She will be truly missed by all who knew her. Her spirit lives on within us. The world is a diminished place without her.
