Barbara Leigh Kiser, 75

Barbara Leigh Kiser passed away in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, on July 19, 2017. She was 75 years old. She was born in Ellsworth, Minn., on Aug. 5, 1941.

Barbara moved with her family to Wallace, Idaho, in 1950. She grew up and attended school in Wallace, graduating from high school in 1959 as valedictorian at Our Lady of Lourdes Academy.

She worked at the Citizens Utility Company and Idaho First National Bank in Wallace and moved to Seattle, Wash., working at a bank there. She returned to Wallace where she met and married her husband of 45 years, Terry Kiser, in November 1972. She spent many years traveling and living with her husband in many places in the west including Tempe, Ariz., Denver, Colo., Boise and Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, and Sequim, Wash., making many cherished memories and friends along the way. She returned to North Idaho and settled in Coeur d’Alene working at several banks and retail clothing stores, finally working and retiring from Candy’s Boutique in the resort shops.

Barbara had many interests. She enjoyed clothing and fashion and was always “best dressed.” She enjoyed being with family and friends and was the hostess of many lovely holiday meals. She was a true animal lover and had many beloved pets over the years. Barb was a talented painter, loved books and was always reading. She liked to stay active and enjoyed working out with friends at Curves for many years and was also a terrific bowler. Barbara enjoyed traveling and took an amazing trip to Egypt with friends. Barbara had a full, wonderful life, was cherished and will be missed by many.

Barbara was preceded in passing by her mother, Margaret Bofenkamp; father Alfred Bofenkamp and sister Patricia Bofenkamp. She is survived by husband, Terry Kiser of Coeur d’Alene; bothers Brent (Dorothy) Bofenkamp of Huntsville, Ala., Steve (Nikki) Bofenkamp of Silverton, Idaho, Dan (Stacie) Bofenkamp of Boise and John (Chris) Bofenkamp of Palouse, Wash.; and many nieces, nephews, sister and brothers-in-law; and close dear friends and neighbors.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to the Kootenai Humane Society, 11650 N. Ramsey Road, Hayden, ID 83835; or Shoshone Humane Society, P.O. Box 1005, Kellogg, ID 83837.

A memorial will take place at a later date.
