A persistent scam artist called the wrong guy.

"Michael Watson" recently rang up CDA Press Consumer Guy, Bill Brooks, to award one of those free government grants winners can receive - only after they've given up personal financial information including credit card and bank account numbers.

Listen to Brooks wrangle with the aggressive "Mr. Watson."

"As long as you know it's a scam call, it can be funny," Brooks wrote, in his column published Monday. "If you're a vulnerable customer, it can be tragic."

Listen to the recording posted on cdapressconsumerguy.com: $9,000 "Government Grant" - I'm going to be rich!
