Center Target appreciation event hits year six

| July 25, 2017 1:00 AM

Center Target Sports will hold its sixth annual Customer Appreciation Event and Swap Meet benefiting the community from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 12.

This is a free community event focused on supporting the Post Falls Food Bank, the Inland Northwest Blood Bank and Toys for Tots.

Organizers say this year promises to be bigger and better than last year. In addition to giving away five firearms and hundreds of smaller prizes, the event will feature free shooting, free food, free drinks, free demonstrations and games for the kids. There will also be sales on select firearms and ammunition.

The record donation tally for this event was 14,500 pounds of food, 96 units of blood and four totes of toys.

“Center Target wants to beat that this year as the community is in desperate need for these items,” said an announcement of the event. “Giving is easy.”

For every pound of food or each toy brought in, the donor will receive a ticket for the prize drawings. Blood donors will each receive five tickets for the drawings. Example — bring in 10 pounds of beans, and get 10 tickets to drop into the bucket for prizes.

“At this time we are looking to fill our blood donor appointment list. Please call and sign up for a donation time so you can donate and not have to wait. Last year the event had to turn away donors, so for the first time, three fully staffed Bloodmobiles will be present to collect the much-needed blood for our community,” the announcement said.

Center Target Sports owners Peggy and Ed Santos said this event is special to them because it’s all about giving back to their customers and the community.

Center Target Sports, 3295 E. Mullan Ave., Post Falls, is a past recipient of the mayor’s award for the most Community Oriented Business of the Year. It was named 2013 Post Falls Business of the Year, Shot business magazine named it the Best Shooting Range in the USA, and Glock Corp. named it the Best Indoor Range in the USA.

Hot dogs will be served starting at 11 a.m.
