Celebrate Hayden Days this weekend

HAYDEN — Here comes Hayden Days.

The annual celebration of all things Hayden starts at 2 p.m. Friday in McIntire Family Park, 8930 N. Government Way.

Food and craft vendors, kids activities, pony rides, a beer and wine garden, dancing and live music will commence the fun. The Kelly Hughes Band will take the stage in the evening.

Saturday's festivities begin with an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast (suggested donation $7) from 7 to 9:30 a.m. at the Northern Lakes Fire Station, 125 W. Hayden Ave.

The Hayden Days "Military Appreciation" Parade will take place Saturday at 10 a.m. on Government Way starting at Hayden Avenue and ending at Nita Avenue. Government Way will be closed from Hayden to Miles avenues from 8:30 to 10 a.m. and side streets from Hayden to Nita will be blocked from 9:55 a.m. until the parade has passed.

The parade will include Hayden's Distinguished Veteran of the Year, Margaret Ogram, as well as Northern Lakes Fire Protection District, Albeni Pipes and Drums of North Idaho, the Hayden Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Forest Service with Smokey Bear, classic cars, Bonner County Rodeo Royalty and much more.

Gymnastics demos will start at 11:45 a.m. that day. The Hayden Car Show will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. The Hayden's Got Talent show will be from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m., and the audience and judges will choose the winners. Vendors and activities will continue in the park as Swing Street Big Band lights up the stage that evening. The fun goes until 9 p.m. Saturday.
