AIRPORT: Let's think big

Ron Dayton here of Sunwood Fjords & Carriage Co., also Sunwood’s Cowboy Bar-B-Q. After attending an event at Coeur d’Alene Airport Tuesday night, I have a few thoughts on the future of the airport and the clubs and the forgotten museum.

It all looks like same’ol, same’ol to me. You know, we have some high rollers in the area, many of whom use the airport. We have Hagadone, Rutan, Cook, Norton, Elway, Parker, Adams, and many others and some not so high rollers like you and me. We have a great opportunity to bring some new ideas and events at the airport. I see Gene Soper has offered a spot near his hangar for a gathering or two as long as we clean it up and not leave a mess. Thank You Gene. This is a step in the right direction, but we need to do more.

I challenge all you folks to do something BOLD like a huge fundraiser so we can see the pavilion take shape and begin a new chapter in the ongoing progress or lack of at the airport. I think part of the problem is that folks seem to be preoccupied in their own little world that they fail to see the Big Picture. With some dedication and hard work by all of us, Big Things can happen. Whatever the future has in store for us, I wish you all “Happy Trails.”
