Coeur d'Alene to play for state berth
COEUR d’ALENE — Dylan Brum went 3 for 5 with three RBIs and three runs scored as the second-seeded Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen beat sixth-seeded Moscow 14-4 in six innings Friday in the second round of the American Legion Class A Area A (district) baseball tournament at Thorco Field.
Coeur d’Alene (41-11) will play for a state berth today at 2 p.m. vs. fifth-seeded Orofino, which upset No. 1 seed Northern Lakes 9-4.
Brum hit an RBI double in the second inning and a two-run homer in the fourth for Coeur d’Alene. Quinton Bunch went 2 for 4 with an RBI and three runs scored for the Lumbermen.
Earlier, Orofino scored six runs in the fifth inning to build a 9-1 lead against Northern Lakes. Logan McDonald went 2 for 4 with an RBI single in the fifth for the Mountaineers.
Later Friday, Dylan Bradbury drove in a pair of runs and got the win on the mound, and Ryan Pote had two hits and scored twice as Northern Lakes eliminated Sandpoint 5-2.
- Late Thursday, Carter Friesz went 2 for 3 and drove in three runs, and Dylan Brum hit a three-run triple as Coeur d’Alene beat St. Maries 15-3 in five innings.
