LUBED: A veteran's lament

| July 21, 2017 1:00 AM

Your readers might be interested in hearing about my recent experience with Fastlane, Inc., a Quick-Lube type business located at 484 Bosanko Road in Coeur d’Alene.

Last Wednesday afternoon, July 12, I pulled in to this facility to get an oil change and lube-job for my 1994 Ford pickup. Being a disabled Army veteran on a limited income, I’ve gotten into the habit of asking a business if they offer a military discount, and this was the first thing I asked there.

The technician I spoke with assured me that they did.

When the job was finished and I was being checked out to pay, I asked what the discount amounted to, and the manager told me that the data had already been entered, and that it was “too late.” I was their last customer of the day and apparently they were in a hurry to close up shop and head home.

I have no complaint regarding the work done, but it seems rather shabby that, when it came time to pay my bill, it was somehow “too late” to get my veteran’s discount.

Your readers, especially those who are military veterans, might want to choose another business next time they bring their vehicle in for an oil change and lube.
