KCSO busts teens for burglaries
A slew of Hayden car burglaries came to an end this week when Kootenai County Sheriff's deputies arrested four teenagers for their part in the thefts.
The burglaries occurred at night between July 17 and 18 in which the teens, ranging in age from 13 to 17, reportedly entered unlocked vehicles and buildings stealing handguns, cell phones, credit cards and cash, Det. Dennis Stinebaugh said.
“Several stolen property items, to include a handgun, have been recovered, and many items have been returned to their rightful owners,” Stinebaugh said in a press release.
A small piece of evidence led investigators to one of the teens and further work on the case led to three more arrests, and charges that will be filed against another two individuals, he said.
At least 12 property owners were victims of the burglaries, according to the sheriff's office.
The owners of other items recovered by the sheriff's office have not yet been identified. Hayden residents who suspect being victims of the same spate of burglaries are asked to call the sheriff's office at (208) 446-1300.
