Jacob Robert Reagan, 30

Jacob was born Oct. 28, 1986, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho, to Rob and Becky Reagan. He died Monday, July 17, 2017, in the early morning hours at his home in Spokane Valley, Wash.

Growing up, Jacob attended Hayden Meadows Elementary School, then transferred to Dalton Elementary when his family moved to Dalton Gardens, Idaho. He also attended Canfield Middle School and Coeur d’Alene High School.

After receiving his GED, Jacob took classes at North Idaho College. In his younger days, Jacob enjoyed playing every sport including baseball, basketball, football and skiing until an injury in a motorcycle accident ended his participation in team sports. In high school, he worked at a couple of local fly fishing stores where he found a passion for fly fishing and fly tying. He loved the outdoors and spent many hours hunting, fishing and golfing. He poured his heart and soul into everything he did.

In adulthood, Jacob worked for various local businesses until he found his calling on the golf course doing course maintenance starting at Prairie Falls followed by Rock Creek and was currently the Assistant Superintendent at The Golf Club at Black Rock. He had a great sense of humor, loved kids and animals.

Jacob and his fiancé, Julie Hinkemeyer, started dating in 2008 and have been planning their wedding for this fall, although he already considered her his wife. Jacob and Julie belonged to a bowling league where they met some great friends. Jacob was the love of Julie’s life, her best friend and a loving father to both of their sons. Her heart will forever be broken and there will never ever be another Jacob Robert Reagan.

Jacob was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Larry Reagan and Pete Benner; and their 2-year-old son, Johnathan who was his ultimate joy. Jacob is survived by his fiancée, Julie Hinkemeyer at their home and his stepson, Isaiah Mortlock of Spokane; parents Rob and Becky Reagan (Dalton Gardens); sister Kim (Joe) Taylor of Post Falls; soon to be in-laws, John and Kris Hinkemeyer of Spokane Valley; to be sister-in-law, Trisha (Chuck) Hurt of Washington; grandmothers Betty Benner and Dorothy Reagan, both of Coeur d’Alene; aunts/uncles, Pam and Bob Gregg, Margaret and Mike Fee, Barbara and Gary Everson, Mary Ann Roberge, Steve and Teresa Benner, all of Coeur d’Alene, Melinda and Fred Fong of Boise, and Bonnie and Terry Baldwin of Missoula; many cousins and the entire Hinkemeyer and Owens families who so graciously accepted Jacob as part of their family.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, July 24, 2017, at Lake City Community Church, 6000 N. Ramsey Road, Coeur d’Alene. A donations account has been made at U.S. Bank under the name of Jacob R. Reagan account number 153355981125.
