Nyquist finishes with an RBI

in West Coast League All-Star Game

Nick Nyquist, a former Coeur d’Alene High standout and rising junior at Gonzaga, went 1 for 3 with an RBI for the North team in a 5-2 loss to the South in the West Coast League All-Star Game on Tuesday at Yakima County Stadium in Yakima.

Trailing 5-1 in the seventh, Nyquist singled to score Bellingham’s Ernie Yake — also of Gonzaga — to cap the scoring.

In Monday’s Home Run Derby, Nyquist hit nine home runs in the first round before bowing out in the second round.

On the season, Nyquist is batting .301 (43 for 143) with 31 runs scored, 10 doubles and 15 runs batted in.
