Last go 'round for Redman

| July 20, 2017 1:00 AM

Eric Redman announced via social media Wednesday that he will not seek re-election to a third term representing District 2 in Idaho’s House of Representatives.

"Four years ago I was asked to become a state legislator," Redman's Facebook post reads. "My wife and I prayed about it and decided to run against the incumbent; mainly because of ObamaCare and federal healthcare interference. I had been retired for two years from my insurance agency my wife and I had sold to my two youngest adult children and their spouses."

Redman, a Republican, was first elected in 2014 and to another two-year term in 2016.

He said during the last three legislative sessions, he based his policy votes on his experience owning businesses for 47 years. Redman, who uses an Athol post office box and resides in Spirit Lake, added he still owns income property.

"I sincerely believe my constituents and all State of Idaho citizens will be benefited if businesses new and existing can flourish," he said. "I still have a few very important bills to work hard to pass through the state legislature in 2018. I will continue to be a diligent state representative through November 2018, but I am term limiting myself to this next session and will give another Idaho citizen the opportunity to serve our great state. "Thank you all in my District 2 for allowing me to represent you these two legislative terms."
