Lums U16 suffer first loss at Washington 'A' districts
SPOKANE — Brandon Filler drove two runs for the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen U16 team, but Whitman County got a walk-off single in the bottom of the seventh and beat the Lums 7-6 at the Washington class A American Legion district tournament on Tuesday at Al K. Jackson Field.
Coeur d’Alene (30-10) will face Shadle Park in a loser-out game today at 11:30 a.m. at Al K. Jackson Field.
Alex Karns had three hits with an RBI and a run scored for Coeur d’Alene.
Earlier Tuesday, the Coeur d’Alene 14U squad, playing up, was eliminated by a 10-6 loss to Shadle Park.

open AA Area A tourney Thursday
POST FALLS — The Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen (13-20) will face the tournament host Prairie Cardinals (12-17) in the opening round of the Class AA Area A tournament starting at 2 p.m. on Thursday at Post Falls High.
Lewis-Clark (30-9), the league champion, will face the winner on Thursday at 5 p.m.
Games will be 9 innings.
The top two teams from the tournament advance to the state tournament July 26-30 in Twin Falls.
