Lums 16U tops 14U squad

COEUR d’ALENE — Seth Hanson, Bode Bailey and Linden Thompson had two RBIs each to lead the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen 16U past the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen 14U squad 12-2 at the Washington class A American Legion district tournament Monday at Thorco Field.

Riley Smith had three hits for the 16U team. Dylan Stahlecker, Trent Elstad and Dalton Cardinel had hits for the 14U team.

The game was the start of double-elimination play. The 16U team will play the winner of the Whitman County/Shadle Park game today, while the 14U team will face the loser.

Four teams from two pools in Spokane also advanced to double-elimination play today.

Eventually, the top four of the eight remaining teams will advance to the Washington state tournament.
