Best action flick(s)? Bond. James Bond.

I’m not a fan of changing the rules.

Well, maybe when I was a kid and playing Monopoly with my cousins ... You know, if they somehow acquired a lot of key property and I could see I was, um ...

Doomed.

It was critical to be the banker, so if things started going sideways there was always the option of the “nobody’s-looking” cash transfer.

Fortunately for my lifetime morals (and my health), I ultimately learned not to cheat.

The Boy Scouts pressed the issue on us with various oaths, and my dad made his point about not fibbing by squeezing my arm so hard that I fell whimpering to my knees.

OK, I was wailing in pain — not just snuffling.

See?

Honesty!

But the real point was that eventually I got it: To be a decent person, you had to play by the rules.

AND THAT, boys and girls, brings us right to the moment — and the grand finale of the First Press Movie Poll.

Unfortunately, it also means I’m going to change the rules.

We have no choice.

The genre for our debut poll was “Action and Adventure,” and when I explained how to vote, I asked that if you wanted to cast a ballot for a James Bond or Star Wars movies, to please SPECIFY which film you had in mind.

Some voters did it. But plenty skipped that part.

So ...

We had a pile of votes and knew generally what you liked. On the other hand, we received ballots for 14 individual Bond movies – and a couple zillion from Bond fans who just named the hero ...

But no movie title.

What could we do with a ball of yarn like this?

For better or worse, we had to count all the “franchise movies” together.

No surprise, then, that Bond landed at No. 1 (by some distance), followed by the Star Wars movies and then Indiana Jones.

IN ONE way, I’m almost glad we had to juggle things around.

The bottom line is that more individual movies — and some damn good ones — made our list of 10.

I’m proud of our audience for finding “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo” (a terrific Swedish mystery trilogy). There is a British version of “Dragon” where everyone in Stockholm runs around speaking English, so it was even more heartening to see a ballot show up that named the trilogy and added a note that said: “Swedish version.”

I can’t argue with any of your individual movies choices. I wish the “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles” had made it, but can I possibly squabble over “Jaws” or “Jurassic Park”?

I slept with the lights on for months after seeing those blood-chillers.

And as for “Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid,” there are plenty of legitimate ratings and lists that place Butch and Sundance in the top 20 or 25 films of all time — regardless of genre.

Finally, do yourself a favor and watch “True Lies” with your sweetie.

It’ll take a while into the movie, but ...
