Edith Warren, 98

Edith Warren, 98, passed away peacefully with family by her side on June 14, 2017, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

She was born on Mother’s Day, May 11, 1919, to Rennie and Judy Williams in Walsenburg, Colo., at the foot of Pikes Peak Mountain. She was the sixth born of 12 children. As a child she lived in Colorado, Kansas, Missouri and later Sacramento, Calif. As a youth, she worked at a defense plant making bullets and at a sewing factory making $12 a week. Later, she worked for Laura Scudder’s potato chip factory for 16 years.

At the age of 22, Edith married her life companion and loving husband of 50 years, Frank Warren, who worked in the plastering industry. In 1972, they moved to Coeur d’Alene to join their daughter, Donna Vance and her family who moved to beautiful Coeur d’Alene in 1968. They worked for the family business Advanced Janitorial and also Jesters Janitorial. Grandma and Grandpa spent any extra time they had fishing or bowling where they met many special friends.

We have many memories of fish fries with her cornbread and her big family breakfasts of her famous biscuits and gravy. We loved to listen to her “whistle while she worked.” She canned the best green beans and peaches anyone ever ate. We would all sit in a circle and help her “snap” the beans. She spent year after year embroidering and making quilts for every family member. She use to sit with such patience and teach all the children how to sew. Even after grandpa passed away, she would pack up the car and take her great-grandchildren to Missouri to the family reunions where she taught us all about how much family means.

Sitting around the campfire “pickin” guitars and banjos, singing up a storm, catching fireflies and sleeping under the stars. Thank you Grandma. She was the Karaoke Queen at the Sawmill bowling alley in Post Falls every weekend. Even after she gave up her license at 89, she would take a taxi to join her friends. She “Boot Scootin Boogied” right out of this world. She brought us such Joy, Laughter and Love. Thank you Gram Gram for all the memories… Although we will miss you everyday it gives us such comfort to know you are smiling and happy in Heaven reunited with so many loved ones, grandpa and your daughter Donna, the Angel you have missed for 30 years. We love you Grandma.

Grandma’s Advice Was: Always say a Prayer and do your best, and even when thing’s look the darkest, just remember that every cloud has a Silver Lining. The family would like to thank everyone at Life Care Center in Coeur d’Alene that loved “Grandma” so much until the end. There will be a graveside service with close friends and family later in the summer.

Edith is survived by her sister, Verna Payne; three grandchildren, Cynde (Ric) Hayden, Kelly Willette (Greg) Hayden and Susan Nave (Heath) Coeur d’Alene; 13 grandchildren, Bryan Cummings (Marla), Michael Cummings (Sara), Nikole Cummings, Jamie Moran (Ryan), Tara Miller (Kyle), Brittany Small (Kirby), Kurt Lenz, Corey Lenz (Francesca), Jared Felton, Devon Nave, Lynn and Sindra Pehrson, and Brandee Willette; 19 great-great-grandchildren, Mason, Madison, MyKinzie, Cassie, Dallas, Clayton, Rayne, Karris, Karsyn, Chet, Adalynn, Arianna, Brystol, Layla, Silver, Emerald, MaRynda, Skyler and Brooklyn; one great-great-great-granddaughter, Haven; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by Rennie and Judy Williams; husband Frank Warren; daughter Donna Vance; 10 brothers and sisters, Jim Vance, Jim Osborn, Bob White and Jason Felton; and many special nieces and nephews.
