Richard Edwin Shipley, 95
Dr. Richard Edwin Shipley, 95, passed away July 8, 2017, in Coeur d’Alene, Idaho. He was born in Rockford, Ill., on Nov. 16, 1921.
He met and fell in love with Irene L. (Lutzhoff) Shipley and they married on June 16, 1945. They had four daughters: Barbara, Wendy, Susan and Jody. Along with his five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren, he is greatly loved.
Richard was a Lieutenant Commander in the U.S. Navy. His love was his profession: cardiology and medicine.
“Richard E. Shipley, M.D., was San Mateo County’s first cardiologist and the former director of Peninsula Hospital’s cardiac care unit, the first of its kind in Northern California.”
A graveside service for Richard will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 15, 2017, at Riverview Cemetery, 1065 N. Lincoln Way, Coeur d’Alene. A memorial service will follow the graveside at 3 p.m. at Yates Funeral Home, Coeur d’Alene Chapel, 744 N. Fourth St., Coeur d’Alene.
Yates Funeral Home has been entrusted with care of final arrangements.
