Phyllis Catherine (Stillinger) Kaczor, 94
Phyllis Kaczor passed away June 29, 2017.
Phyllis was born in Detroit Lakes, Minn., on Jan. 7, 1923, to Walter and Catherine Stillinger. She moved with her parents to Coeur d’Alene and attended and graduated from the Immaculate Heart of Mary Academy. She worked as an IBM key puncher at Farragut Naval Base during World War II. She met her husband, Stanley Kaczor (now deceased), at the base and they were married in 1944.
Stanley and Phyllis built the Rocket Drive-Inn in Post Falls in 1961. They worked for years serving their delicious hamburgers, french fries and milkshakes. The Drive-Inn is a special place to remember the past history of Post Falls.
Phyllis is survived by her son, James and his wife Donna of Spokane; her daughter, Penny Smith and her husband Gary; and her grandchild, Jennifer Smith and her husband Russell Stebbins. She is also survived by her sisters, Joan Wagner and her husband Everett, and Mary Breeden of Spokane; her brother, Jim Stillinger and his wife Sue of Coeur d’Alene; and many loving nieces and nephews.
Phyllis was a very caring and loving wife, mother and true friend. She had a delightful personality and keen sense of humor. She loved to sew, bowl, participate in water aerobics and play board games, especially when she would win.
While she will be deeply missed, we are grateful that she is in Heaven — free from any pain and with her loved ones.
There will be a graveside service at St. Thomas Catholic Cemetery in Coeur d’Alene, planned for later in the month.
