Cd'A, Northern Lakes split
COEUR d’ALENE — Quinton Bunch singled in Benji White with the go-ahead run in the bottom of the sixth inning, and the Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen went on to beat the Northern Lakes Mountaineers 4-3 in the first game of a class A North Idaho League doubleheader Sunday at Coeur d’Alene High’s Ted Page Field.
Northern Lakes won the second game 6-4.
Michael Dooley drove in three runs in the opener for Coeur d’Alene, two on a third-inning double, and one on a fifth-inning homer that tied the game at 3.
Andrew Neilson led off the game with a home run for Northern Lakes.
In the second game, Jack McDonald went 2 for 4 with three RBIs for the Mountaineers.
Devon Johnson went 3 for 4 with two RBIs for the Lums, and Michael Dooley went 2 for 4 with two RBIs.
Northern Lakes (23-13, 17-5 NIL) is scheduled to play host to St. Maries today in a 3 p.m. league doubleheader at Gorton Field in Rathdrum.
Coeur d’Alene (35-10, 16-5) is slated to play host to the Lewis-Clark Cubs on Tuesday in a league doubleheader at Thorco Field, starting at 5 p.m.
