GOP: Wrong on health
Americans across the U.S. have been put in the crosshairs by the GOP’s recent attempts to repeal the ACA and pass their own health care bill, and the Palouse is no exception. Idaho’s 1st district under Raul Labrador has been projected to cost health care coverage to 73,500 people, one in every 10 people in this half of the state. For Washington’s 5th district under Cathy McMorris Rodgers has, they’ve been projected to cost another 36,200 people their health care, around one in every 20 people across the district. In both cases, this is an unacceptable gutting of health care that helps protect common Americans and ensures financial stability and peace of mind.
Furthermore, the bill effectively destroys Medicaid, stripping it from those who need it the most, such as children, low-income Americans and seniors who rely on it to afford lifesaving care. Instead, those funds are channeled into tax breaks for millionaires and large corporations, at the cost of the health and safety of our most at-risk Americans.
We need to make our voice heard, and ensure the GOP know that this bill is sacrificing common Americans’ health and safety to benefit the wealthy few.
