Garcia, Anderson win at Hayden Triathlon

HAYDEN — Derek Garcia of Coeur d’Alene was the top finisher in the seventh annual Hayden triathlon on Saturday, finishing in 54 minutes, 44.9 seconds.
Garcia, the top local finisher in the Ironman 70.3 Coeur d’Alene on June 25, finished the half-mile swim in 10 minutes, 24 seconds, the 12-mile bike in 26:17 and the 3.1-mile run in 17:02. Garcia also won the event in 2016.
Brandy Anderson of Coeur d’Alene was the top female, finishing in 1 hour, seven minutes and 54.2 seconds. Anderson was the top local female finisher in the recent Ironman 70.3 Coeur d’Alene.
