Dems will be knocking on doors this weekend

| July 8, 2017 1:00 AM

Local Democrats will hit the streets today to participate in the Idaho Dems’ “Resistance Summer Tour.”

Kootenai County Dems are teaming up with Indivisible Hayden. Volunteers will go door-to-door today asking voters about what’s going on in their community and letting them know how to get involved locally. A field organizer, who has been recruiting volunteers since Sunday, will lead a brief training, which includes safety tips, before sending volunteers door-to-door.

“Kootenai County Dems are energized and motivated,” said Kootenai County Dems Chair Paula Neils. “We’ve seen an absolute flood of support since the election. The energy is palpable and it shows at our events. We had over 50 volunteers walking in the Independence Day Parade on Tuesday and the cheering crowds gave us a wonderful response.”

Coeur d’Alene is the second stop on a 14-city effort. After Coeur d’Alene, organizers will stop in cities such as Moscow, Caldwell, Pocatello, Hailey, and Driggs.

“Think of this program as a down-payment on elections this fall and beyond as Idaho Democrats organize to win,” said IDP Chairman Bert Marley. “We know that the more we talk to voters, the more Idahoans will understand that we are truly the party that fights for strong families and strong communities.”

Volunteers will meet at the Kootenai County Dems Headquarters at 10 a.m. today. For information, contact field organizer Dylan Simpson at (208) 720-4695.
