VA: I second that emotion

| July 5, 2017 1:00 AM

I want to compliment Mr. Paul Underwood of St. Marie’s about his letter to the Veteran’s Administration. I think the VA is great! Sure, you have to sit down and wait in long lines. So what? They still give you what you need and what you want. It’s the best thing about being a veteran. If you you go in and say, “I got a pain,” you may sit there for a few hours. But if you actually have a real problem they rush you right through and take care of you immediately. All you have to do is fill out the paperwork to get started with the VA. You need your DD-214.

Oh, yeah. Did you lose that after you left the service? Tough luck. Well, call the right numbers and get it sent to you. That is all you need to do.

The VA has wonderful doctors who are hugely sympathetic. Plus, they don’t spend their days worrying about malpractice, so they don’t have to treat us like teddy bears. My gosh, it is wonderful. They don’t have to butter us up or treat us like little bitty babies.

The VA was the first place I felt warm and comfortable. It’s just, “I am your doctor and this is what is going on. This is what needs to to be done.” No existential BS. I would rather go to the VA than any other place on Earth. Hooray for the VA, and if somebody does not feel this way, maybe they are looking for ...I don’t know. But as a person who served, maybe they want too much.
