Family forest landowners in Idaho and Washington have an opportunity to spend a day in the woods with natural resource experts.

The Idaho-Washington Forest Owners Field Day will be July 15 from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. at Cedar Mountain Farm near Athol.

Classes and activities will include topics on forest health and wildlife habitat improvement, fire protection, planning, tree and shrub identification, soils, thinning and pruning techniques, financial assistance, chainsaw safety, leasing, easements and youth activities.

This educational event offers practical information for any forestland owner, large or small. More than 10,500 families already have experienced the field day opportunities.

Before July 7, the cost to participate is $20 per person or $30 per family and a barbecue lunch is offered for $10.

After July 7, the cost increases to $30 per person or $40 per family, and participants must bring a lunch.

For detailed information, driving instructions, and to register for the event, go to www.idahoforestowners.org or http://forestry.wsu.edu.

Multiple organizations will be on hand to share resource information. Primary field day sponsors include the Idaho Department of Lands, Idaho Forest Owners Association, and Washington State University Extension.
