Fourth of July festivities today in Coeur d'Alene

| July 4, 2017 1:00 AM

Coeur d’Alene’s annual Independence Day bash is expected to draw thousands to the city’s downtown area today.

Kicking off the festivities will be a parade beginning at 10 a.m. — an hour earlier than in previous years. The parade route is along Sherman Avenue beginning at 15th Street and ending at Government Way.

Stationed between Second and Third streets, Kerri Thoreson and Scott Hough will announce the parade participants.

The event will feature the Perfection-Nots musicians, in their 40th year of performing. The Blazen Divaz will also join the lineup along with cheerleaders, big trucks, veterans, church groups and politicians.

Following the parade, there will be free music at the bandshell in City Park. Vendors will sell food and products until dusk.

The evening will end with a fireworks show at 10 p.m.
