Lums, Northern Lakes fall in final tourney games
COEUR d’ALENE — The Coeur d’Alene Lumbermen wrapped up play in the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene Fourth of July Wood Bat Classic with a 13-1 loss to the Spokane Cannons on Sunday night at Thorco Field.
The visiting Cannons scored 11 runs in the first three innings.
Riley Alley doubled in the second inning and scored on Cody Davenport’s sacrifice fly for the lone run for Coeur d’Alene (11-12).
Next up for the Lums is the Boise Summer Classic starting Thursday.

SPOKANE VALLEY — The Bears broke a tie with three runs in the bottom of the sixth inning to beat the Mountaineers at the Spokane/Coeur d’Alene Fourth of July Wood Bat Classic at West Valley High.
Dustin Smith and Colton Aragon had two hits each for Northern Lakes (19-9).

Prairie splits on second day of wood-bat tourney
POST FALLS — The Cardinals lost 9-0 to Northwest Premier and beat Billings 7-2 to finish 2-2 in their pod at Post Falls High.
Prairie finished second in its pod, earning a Sunday date with an Idaho Collegiate League team at Thorco Field.
Jared Porter struck out 10, walked two and scattered seven hits for Prairie in its win over Billings, and Brock Zeller had three hits.
“We were really bad in game 1 but in game 2 against Billings Porter was really good; he absolutely tore them up,” Prairie coach Pat Call said. “Billings is a good team and Porter looked like a college pitcher today. He had great command of two pitches and we delivered run support which he hasn’t had all summer.”
