THANKS: LCHS event a success

For the past 30+ years, local parents have sponsored an all-night drug and alcohol free event for high school seniors immediately following their graduation. This annual tradition provides a safe alternative for students to celebrate one of the most important nights of their lives. The 2017 Lake City High School graduation took place on June 10 at the Kroc Center and we have many “shout outs” to share with our community.

What a joy it has been to watch the class of 2017 develop into the young adults that they are today! These students are bright, passionate, and inspired and have so much promise and potential. It takes a village to raise a child; thank you to parents, friends, schools and community for all of your support.

We’d like to thank the many parents who donated their time, energy and resources to ensure the success of this event. Parents are inherently busy and we know that there were evenings, weekends and well-earned leisure time sacrificed for planning, organizing and fundraising. Ultimately, we felt so privileged to be able to host this “last hurrah” for the class of 2017 and hope that the overnighter exceeded expectations for a fun and memorable night!

We want to recognize the unwavering support, professionalism and generosity of the entire staff of District 271 and specifically recognize the caring and talented faculty, staff and administrators at Lake City High School. A special thanks goes out to Mrs. Clifford, Mrs. Leddy, Mrs. Hutchinson, Mrs. Morgan, Mrs. Alderman, Mrs. Woodall, and the entire custodial staff who were always willing to provide guidance, assistance, promotion and words of encouragement!

Since the senior graduation celebrations receive no funding from School District No. 271, we rely on the generosity of local businesses and individuals to help underwrite this event. On behalf of our 2017 LCHS graduating seniors and their parents, we would like to thank the following individuals and businesses for their contributions:

Avista, Avondale Golf Club, bankcda, Bling Salon, Boston Brew, Buffalo Wild Wings, Kate Brown, Janelle Burke, Caddyshack, Carpet Warehouse, Car Wash Plaza, Coeur d’Alene Sunrise Rotary, Best Western Plus Coeur d’Alene Inn, The Coeur d’Alene Resort — Dockside, Cenex, Chun Family, Rich and Kate Christensen, Coleman Oil, Cooperative Supply, Inc., Costco, Davidson Family Dental, Daybreak Coffee, Elements Massage, Empire Airlines, Wendy Gabriel, Hecla Mining, Heritage Health, Hippo Car Wash, Idaho Independent Bank, JUB Engineers, Kiwanis Club, Knudtsen Chevrolet, Kootenai Electric, Kootenai Health, LCHS Booster Club, Lean Bean, Les Schwab/Hayden Center, Local Deli, Meltz, Metro Carwash, MOD Pizza, North Idaho College, North Idaho Family Law, Orlando’s Food Service, Panda Express, Papa Murphy’s/Cavanaugh Family, Parker Toyota, Pastry & More, Paycheck Connection, Cameron Phillips, P.A., Douglas Pierce, P.A., Redal and Redal Law Firm, David Robinson, P.A., Row Adventures, Schaffer’s Towing, Silverwood, Bradley Stoddard P. THANKS: For free lunch for veterans

We want to send a huge Thank You to the donors and restaurants that participated in this year’s event, with more than 150 veterans receiving a free meal on Memorial Day! Tom and Teresa Capone (All three Capone’s locations in North Idaho) Michael DePasquale (Michael D’s eatery in Coeur d’Alene) and Kelli Goodlander-Callihan (Fourth Street Taco Time in Coeur d’Alene) made up our participating restaurants and provided service and food for our local veterans!

Our donors raised $800 this year, which will be distributed to the restaurants, in order to offset the cost of the food provided. Thank you to the following, who made up all of this year’s donations:

Walkers Tax Service (Spokane Valley), Jeff Walker Senior Serve Idaho (Bayview), Eric and Breigh Soles Crandall Law Group (Coeur d’Alene), and Jeff and Ryan Crandall.
